According to Bush, "that fund was going to have zero dollars in it" to repair damage to public transit systems from severe storms and flooding across the years 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2022. So interesting listening to this with hindsight. And although I never gave it any thought before, I think Joe has been preparing for what occurred. Maybe not under the circumstances it occurred, but making sure Kamala was ready, just in case. I think he's nothing if not a realist, and understands tomorrow is never a given. They were able to credit her as playing a role in the hostage negotiations only because she did play a role. And it was he who saw to that, I think.
